FAQs
Q. What is the Schedule?
A. Practices start the week of August 1st and teams will practice 2-3 evenings a week and/or Saturday mornings. Once the school year starts, teams will cut practice down to 2 evenings a week and possibly Saturday mornings. All games will be played on Saturdays and the first game will be Saturday, September 7th. Each team in each division will play a minimum of 8 games. 4 home games (At a PFISD School) and 4 away games. The season will conclude no later than November 16th (post-season play)
Q. What league does PFYFA play in?
A. PFYFA is part of the Central Texas Youth Football League (CTYFL). CTYFL is a group of youth football associations in Central Texas and is run independently of any national or statewide organizations. The league is run by the associations that participate and the rules and regulations are set and enforced by the league as determined by the participating associations.
Q. Is CTYFL a traveling league?
A. CTYFL is not a traditional traveling league. All or our associations are located in Central Texas. We generally do not have to travel more than an hour away however CTYFL is growing and this may change depending upon the leagues joining.
Q. Is there a minimum play rule?
A. Yes. We require every player to play 8 plays a half for a total of 16 plays a game.
Q. How are teams selected?
A. We are not a "select" organization and all participants are placed into a draft to ensure teams are formed fairly. There is no "A" and "B" team
Q. How many players are on a team?
A. The maximum team size for tackle divisions is 19 players and the minimum is 11. Except for the PeeWee 6-Man tackle division, the max team size is 11 and the minimum is 6. We believed that keeping team sizes down allows for maximum participation for each player as well as proper coaching for each player
Q. Refund Policy
A. There will be a 10% administrative fee deducted from all refund requests prior to the season start date. Refunds requested during the first week of practice may be granted with a 10% administrative fee. Refunds requested after the first week of practice may be granted at 75% and a 10% administrative fee. NO refunds will be given after the first scheduled game. No refunds given for team placement.
Q. How many coaches can a team have?
A. Tackle teams are allowed 5 coaches, including the Head Coach, on the sideline during games. Flag teams are allowed 4 coaches, including the Head Coach, on the sideline during games. The number of coaches during practice is limited to personnel who can pass a background check. Please check the Coaching Opportunities link for more information on coaching requirements.
